The MURA Breakfast series featured a presentation by Jan Swaney, MD, on May 7, 2020 at the Country Club of Missouri. Jan Swaney, MD, was part of a presentation on “Big Pharma: Market Failure.” A shortened version of the documentary film takes a hard look at how Big Pharma corporations control the high cost of drugs in America–protecting their bottom line over our health. After the film there was a discussion about out-of-control prescription costs, and what we can be done to change it.
The MURA Breakfast series will feature a presentation by Betsy Garrett, MD, Professor Emerita of Family and Community Medicine on April 2 from 8:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. Location will return to the Country Club of Missouri. Many groups are contacting MURA to recruit volunteers and that’s a good thing. Studies have found that older volunteers report lower mortality rates, lower rates of depression, fewer physical limitations, and higher levels of well-being. To help connect MURA members with volunteer opportunities, we’ve added a section to our website. Visit https://mura-missouri.com/volunteer-opportunities/ to check out volunteer opportunities to see if any of them are right for you. We’re also using this email blast to let you know of some new opportunities. If you’re interested, contact the designated liaison to learn more.
