MURA Virtual Breakfast Program: Kelli Hansen, Head of Special Collection and Rare Books – December 1, 2020

Virtual MURA Breakfast Program, December 1, 8:30-9:30 a.m.

Featured Speaker: Kelli Hansen, Head of Special Collections and Rare Books, MU Libraries on  “Discovering the Secrets of Special Collections.”

In a special holiday gift for all of us, Special Collections Librarian Kelli Hansen will share some of the treasures within the Library’s collection.  We will go (virtually) inside the closed stacks and appointment-only reading room, to see highlights of the collections, including materials related to the history of books and printing, authors’ manuscripts, historic maps, posters, comics, and more. Some of the treasures we will explore include a rare 16th century illuminated Processional from a Dominican Sisters convent and (in contrast) the biting editorial cartoons of Chicago Tribune cartoonist John Tinney McCutcheon which often featured politics and the press. We will also take a tour of the new Special Collections website and explore digital resources that are open and available to the world, so that you can share the secrets of Special Collections with others.  Here is the link: Meeting ID: 931 1952 3670  Phone: 312 626 6799
